We just had our house assessed by James & Tom from Australian Energy Assessments via the Government rebate system. We recommend them to everyone that wants to save lots in their energy bills. James & Tom were very friendly advising us at length and supplying us a scorecard showing our 42 year old houses energy rating. We are considering making a few changes to rectify our energy issues. We are looking at swapping out our gas hot water system to and electric heat pump system and also swapping out gas cook top to an electric induction cook top so we can shut down our gas account that is the most expensive energy bill. As we have 5kw of solar panels we are better off going all electric now and in a few years time we may get a battery as well. Tom provided an extremely thorough assessment of the property and then discussed at length the findings. This is a fantastic service (free at the time of writing) and gave us many ideas for improvements to our house to increase energy efficiency and stay warm during winter. Tom also helped us prioritise the improvements to get the best bang for buck.
