Capacity and power answer different questions

Usable capacity is the energy available for normal cycling. Compare usable capacity, not only the larger nominal figure.

Power output in kW
Power determines how much load the battery can supply at once. Check continuous and peak power against the appliances you expect it to support.

Ask what happens when the grid fails
Backup is not automatic
Solar and batteries may shut down during an outage unless the system is specifically designed and wired for backup. Confirm which circuits are backed up, the maximum backup power and whether solar can recharge the battery while the grid is unavailable.
Read virtual power plant terms
A VPP may offer credits or other benefits in exchange for controlling part of the battery. Check minimum reserve, event limits, exit fees, contract length and how the offer changes your retail tariff.

Eligible new batteries connected to new or existing rooftop solar can create small-scale technology certificates. Installations must meet all program, product and installer rules.
